I make absolutely no secret of the fact that I am a complete Friends fanatic. I still watch the repeats all the time, and pride myself on the fact that I don't even need to be in the room to can tell what episode is on (not that these are things to be proud of, really!). So, as a lover of all things interior, it hasn't gone unnoticed that Monica's apartment was pretty cool. Despite being over twenty years since we first got a glimpse of her iconic purple-hued home, it still feels fresh, so I thought I'd celebrate its timeless eclectic design (the 90's are back, after all) - and share how you could inject a little bit of Gellar style into your own home.
Mix of colours
Who'd have thought that purple walls and turquoise kitchen units could work so well?! Add lots of textured and multi-coloured fabrics, and you're on to an eclectic winner. The fact that all the fabrics within the lounge are neutral-based with hints of deeper colours, eliminates the risk of clashing.

ArtworkOne of the defining features of Monica's apartment for me is the artwork which I think neatly ties the eclectic theme together throughout the rooms. All of the prints have a french-vintage feel to them, complimenting some of the antique-style furniture, and working together with the other styles used to create an authentic eclectic feel.

The Kitchen
Unsurprisingly, Monica's open-style kitchen cupboards look impressively neat and tidy, who'd have thought no cupboard doors could look so good?! The colour of the drapes add a bit of warmth, and totally dress up that rather unimpressive view of a brick wall (anybody else never noticed that before?!) ...

Quirky and 'out-there' accessories are a staple for eclectic homes. Anything goes here, from a wooden bird cage mounted on the wall to an ancient Egyptian bust gracing a bedside table, working to give the rooms personality and individuality. Monica also seems to be a fan of bringing nature inside too, with lots of fresh flowers, and a large house plant adding depth and something extra to the room.

There's nothing like some mismatched furniture to create an eclectic feel in a room, and Monica's kitchen table complete with four completely different chairs certainly ticks this box.

What do you think of this eclectic style? Is this a look you'd like to recreate within your home?
Thanks for reading,
